What This Graph Tells Us
This graph shows us the number of days for the oldest building permit application in the queue waiting to receive initial review comments by the Planning & Development Services Department.
Data Status Legend
- Green - initial reviews are conducted within 28 days.
- Yellow - initial reviews are conducted within 29 - 35 days.
- Red - initial reviews are conducted more than 35 days after application is submitted and deemed complete.
Why This Measure Matters
Tracking the number of days before a building permit is reviewed is important to ensure we are providing the best customer service to Skagit County residents looking to build new projects. Efficient building permit approvals helps protect public safety and reduces overall construction costs. If permits are not reviewed in a timely manner, residents could opt to not apply for a permit, which leads to unsafe construction environments and infrastructure.
